If you run a business and employ other people you have to pay their wages.
It sounds simple but there is more to it than simply handing over some money at the end of the week or month. You need to make sure that the employees' tax and National Insurance are correctly deducted and paid to the right people, plus making sure your employer’s contribution is correct. Then there are sick pay, holiday entitlements, overtime, and even deductions at source for non-payment of Council Tax or fines to be considered. It can be a mine-field and if you are trying to do it yourself then it can take up a lot of time.
There comes a point when it seems sensible to employ someone else that can offer effective payroll solutions. However, before you do this it would be wise to look round and see if there are any other solutions. Employing somebody, especially someone that does not contribute anything to making the company profitable, can be costly. Handing over the problem to an external, outsourced payroll company who specifically deals with this job, by buying in your payroll services, may actually be more cost effective.
At Moorepay we were specifically set up to offer such services needed by SME’s and more importantly, to provide cost-effective payroll services. There have been companies offering these services to large companies and the public sector for years but the needs of small companies are very different and we can cater to these needs.
