Background Checking For Employers Recruiting New Staff

It has always been an acknowledged and, to some degree, accepted fact that many candidates use artistic license to embellish their worthiness when applying for jobs.

According to recent statistics, CVs circulating in the jobs market contain up to 24% inaccuracy about experience and qualifications and up to 15% exaggeration, resulting in up 71% of employers discovering too late that they have not employed the candidate they thought appeared suitable and up to 50% have to renege on job offers made or dismissing staff after initial employment.

Outsourced HR payroll companies are fully conversant with the true cost of recruitment to employers and the time, resources and money that go in to recruiting and training the right candidate. They have developed a ‘people checking’ service, offering clients the option to request online a background check on both potential and existing employees.

This service saves HR payroll clients money and takes legal preventative measures on their behalves. The HR payroll agency is obliged to request the permission of the candidate or employee before commencing the screening process, which covers off complete or partial checking of criminal records, driving licenses, financial status, and identity, past employment, passports and qualifications. The service provider cannot proceed with checks if permission is refused by the candidate or employee.
