Pilgrim Homes was established in 1807 to help meet the needs of Protestant Christians over the age of 60 who subscribe to the organisation's Doctrinal Basis. They have a range of 'care ready' apartments and sheltered housing as well as residential and nursing care available nationally.
Phil Wainwright, Director of Human Resources is responsible for the charity's payroll and HR activities. With 350 members of staff, a mixture of both part-time and full-time workers, the weekly payroll was extremely time consuming. Although a part-time member of staff was employed to deal with the payroll each month the process was beginning to get more complex. Also, with just one person dealing with the payroll there was no guaranteed continuity and if the employee was absent there was no-one to cover the work.
