With over 200 important dates for the remainder of this year and 2024, this calendar aims to highlight important themes around Diversity and Inclusion to help promote awareness of diversity throughout your organisation.
Raising awareness can encourage self-learning and personal development, provide accessible information on dates, holidays and events for all employees and support your organisation’s diversity, cultural and quality training objectives.
September 2023
World Alzheimer’s Month
World Alzheimer’s Month is an annual international event, always held in September and run by Alzheimer’s Disease International, (ADI). The aim of the month is to raise awareness and challenge stigma surrounding Alzheimer’s and dementia.
East and Southeast Asian Heritage Month
ESEA Heritage Month takes place every September across the UK with both in-person and online events hosted by businesses, charities, community organisations and individuals.
National Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept 15 – October 15)
The celebration begins in the middle rather than the start of September because it coincides with national independence days in several Latin American Countries: Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Costa Rica, Mexico, Chile and Belize.

October 2023
ADHD Awareness Month
ADHD, which stands for attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, is a neurodivergent condition that affects both children and adults worldwide. It’s a condition which is often stereotypically associated with hyperactivity, lack of focus and ‘disruptive behaviour’. However, people with ADHD are also creative problem solvers, capable of deep focus on tasks and bring innovation to their work. ADHD Awareness Month in October is a time to reflect on what ADHD is, how it affects people, and celebrate neurodiversity.
Breast Cancer Awareness Month
55,000 people are diagnosed with breast cancer every year. Every October people all over the world show their support for everyone affected by breast cancer.
Go Sober for October
Sober October encourages people to go alcohol-free in October to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Dwarfism Awareness Month
Dwarfism Awareness Month is a month-long event to spread awareness and increase the visibility of dwarfism and people with the condition. The event is observed internationally and aims to educate people on dwarfism while dispelling myths and misconceptions.
Black History Month
This national celebration aims to promote and celebrate the contributions of those with African and Caribbean heritage to British society and to foster an understanding of Black history in general.

Transgender Awareness Month
The month is dedicated to education about transgender communities and important issues facing trans people across the country. During Transgender Awareness Month, there is important recognition of: Transgender Awareness Week and the Transgender Day of Remembrance, a worldwide gathering of trans and allied communities to memorialise victims of anti-trans hatred or prejudice.
Islamophobia Awareness Month
Every November in the UK, the positive contributions of Muslims are celebrated during Islamophobia Awareness Month, as well as raising awareness of Islamophobia in our society.
Movember
Movember is an annual event involving the growing of moustaches during the month of November to raise awareness of men’s health issues, such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and men’s suicide.

UK Disability History Month (UKDHM) is an annual event which aims to promote disabled people’s rights and their struggle for equality now and in the past.

RED January is a nationwide movement for mental wellbeing, empowering people to get active during the winter, a time of increased low moods and depressive symptoms to support their mental health and set fitness goals to be active every day in January.

Disability Pride Month
Disability Pride Month has been described as a day to “accept and honour each person’s uniqueness” and “promote visibility and mainstream awareness” of positive pride felt by people with disabilities.

The month was established to honour and celebrate South Asian history and culture. It’s an opportunity for everyone to appreciate the countries in South Asia and learn new things about their heritage.
