Who they are

The Better Cotton Initiative is a non-profit, multistakeholder governance group that promotes better standards in cotton farming and practices across 21 countries. As of 2017, Better Cotton accounts for 14% of global cotton production.

What we did for them

Better Cotton Initiative’s journey to using our HR Software began when they recognised flaws in their HR processes.

Most simple tasks were done through manual processes, and Olivia, HR & Admin Officer, articulated these challenges, “Disparate systems, manual admin and security were our biggest challenges. It was hard to manage everything HR related from leave requests, compliance, updating employee records and much more. Our processes were all manual.”

Furthermore, the issue of data security emerged as a significant concern. Olivia emphasised this, saying, “We found ourselves storing data on Dropbox, which didn’t have the security we wanted and needed. As Dropbox is a public cloud, the level of encryption is not good enough for sensitive HR documents and data. It just wasn’t good enough.”

Olivia explained, “When we were looking for a system, we wanted something that offered great functionality to meet our needs, a simple interface so all employees will engage with the software and at a cost that fell within the cost structure set out due to us being a not-for-profit organisation.”

After an initial demonstration, it became clear that our HR Software was the perfect fit for their HR requirements. Not only was it more cost-effective compared to other options, but it also boasted superior functionality and intuitive navigation. Olivia expressed her satisfaction, saying, “After an initial demo, we knew this HR software was the right HR system for us. After the implementation Olivia immediately saw the benefits and the Employee Self Service was well received by the employees. This means that data is more up-to-date, and HR doesn’t have to get involved – line managers will take ownership. The self-service aspect of our HR software is a definite positive for employees and they have praised its ease-of-use and modern feel.”
