What is the new State Pension amount?

Summary
The UK state pension increased by 8.5% on 8 April 2024, the second highest rise since the triple lock was introduced in 2011/12.
Current basic state pension
The new basic State Pension is £221.20 per week, or £11,502.40 per year.
This applies to those reaching state pension age on or after 6 April 2016.
Old basic state pension
If you reached State Pension age before 6 April 2016, you’ll get a different amount under the basic State Pension rules.
The old basic State Pension is £169.50 per week, or £8,814 per year.
Please note, these figures are for the full basic state pension. The actual amount an employee gets is dependant on their national insurance record.
