The ERA Blueprint Series: sexual harassment reforms

Wednesday 23 September | 11am – 12pm

Could your organisation prove it’s taken all reasonable steps to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace?

It’s a question set to become more important under the next wave of Employment Rights Act reforms, with employers expected to take all reasonable steps to prevent sexual harassment at work.

That also includes third-party harassment, meaning employers will need to consider the risks employees may face from people outside the organisation, including customers, clients, suppliers, contractors and visitors.

This means prevention now needs to be more visible, practical and evidenced than ever, with employers looking across the whole prevention journey, from where risks could arise and how concerns are raised to how managers respond and how clearly action is recorded.

Just as importantly, employers will need to look beyond policies and consider the culture employees experience every day. When inappropriate comments, “banter” or behaviour go unchallenged, workplace standards can quickly become blurred.

Creating a culture where people feel safe to speak up, concerns are taken seriously and managers are confident addressing issues early will be just as important as any formal policy or process.

In this second session of the ERA Blueprint Series, Laura Sheldon, Senior Manager, Employment Law at Moorepay, will help you understand what’s changing and how employers can start strengthening their approach.

We’ll explore the higher bar for prevention including what’s expected when it comes to third-party harassment, and the practical steps organisations should be thinking about building out now.

Those who attend live will also receive a Blueprint Book from the session, designed to help you identify where action may be needed and keep building manager and business confidence beyond the session.

This Smart Talk is ideal for HR teams and business leaders who want to understand the reforms, reduce risk and build a safer, more confident prevention approach.

Moorepay’s Smart Talks presents the The ERA Blueprint Series

Building confidence through the next wave of Employment Rights Act reforms

Did you know unfair dismissal protection will soon apply after six months’ service? Or that employers will need to take all reasonable steps to prevent sexual harassment, including harassment by third parties?

With some of the biggest workplace reforms we’ve seen in decades right around the corner, HR teams can’t afford to build their response at the last minute.

Join our free three-part webinar series where Moorepay’s Employment Law experts will act as your architects, helping you understand what’s changing, what it could mean for your organisation and how to build a response that stands on solid ground.

Across the series, we’ll cover the reforms already live and still to come, before taking a deeper look at two major changes employers need to prepare for.

Sessions included in this series:

  • Sexual harassment reforms (this session)

Join live and you’ll also receive a Blueprint Book from each session, designed to help you support your managers and build confidence beyond the sessions.
