By April, the Employment Rights Act reforms will be fully in force, and the question becomes less about what the law says and more about whether your approach works in practice.
This first round of reforms touches some of the most operational parts of HR including sickness absence, statutory pay and family-related leave, to name a few. But it also raises the bar on process and documentation, with the Fair Work Agency expected to take a more active role in enforcement.
There’s a lot of change all at once, with even more on the way.
In the third and final part of our ERA Readiness Series, we’ll bring all the April reforms together and sense-check whether you’re genuinely ready. We’ll run through what should now be in place then pressure-test how it works in real-life scenarios – especially where managers are making calls and HR is expected to back them up. We’ll also focus on the Fair Work Agency and what stronger enforcement means in practice, including the kind of evidence and audit trail employers may need to show.
We’ll finish with a look ahead to the next set of changes expected from October, including sexual harassment and unfair dismissal so you don’t lose sight of what’s coming next.
This Smart Talk will be led by Michelle Hobson, HR Services Director and is ideal for HR leaders and managers who want confidence in their compliance position and clarity on what needs attention as further changes approach.

Moorepay’s Smart Talks presents…
The ERA Readiness Series
Come along to our free three-part training series designed to help HR teams get to grips with the most significant Employment Rights Act changes before they go live.
With day one rights, SSP reform, and tougher compliance expectations right around the corner, it’s no surprise many employers are feeling the pressure. This series is built to cut through the noise and focus on what actually matters in practice.
Across three linked Smart Talks we’ll take you from understanding the changes, to working through the areas of highest operational impact to sense-checking whether your policies and processes are truly ready for the April reforms. By the end of the series, you’ll have a clear view of what needs to change, where the biggest risks lie and how to apply the reforms confidently in real-world situations.
