What are your options with flexible working requests? How do you implement flexible working practices? And how do you need to respond to the legislation changes next year?
The Employment Relations (Flexible Working) Act 2023, which is expected to come into effect next year, will enable employees to make two flexible working requests in any 12-month period (compared to just one under current law), and employers will be required to respond within two months (compared to three).
With this on the horizon, it’s important for employers to understand how to handle flexible working requests, the grounds for refusal and how to write a flexible working policy. If handled poorly, you risk non-compliance and even a trip to the tribunal!
