Summary

The statutory amount of a week’s pay (used for calculating various awards including statutory redundancy pay and unfair dismissal ‘basic awards’), increased from £571 to £643.

The maximum for unfair dismissal compensatory award increased to £105,707 from £93,878.

Compensation for injury to feelings, awarded in discrimination cases is set into bands, generally known as ‘Vento’ bands.

These increased following an annual review by the Presidents of the Employment Tribunals in England & Wales and Scotland, as below:

  • £1,100 to £11,200 for the lower band – less serious cases – (previously £990 to £9,900).
  • £11,200 to £33,700 for the middle band – cases that do not merit an award in the upper band – (previously £9,900 to £29,600).
  • £33,700 to £56,200 for the upper band—the most serious cases- (previously £29,600 to £49,300).
  • £56,200 and above for the most exceptional cases (previously £49,300).
