New Engaged Employer Report Highlights key Benefits for Attracting and Retaining Talent

UK businesses are facing some of the most pressing recruitment challenges in living memory.

We’re seeing near-full employment with the number of jobs outstripping candidates by a ratio of 5-to-1. This has led to severe pressure on employers to recruit and retain.

83% of employers say their employees are looking for more than just pay

At the same time, wage growth has stagnated for many years, UK businesses are facing a chronic productivity problem, and employee wellbeing has gone to the top of business and govt agendas as mental health and financial wellbeing have come under the spotlight.

Employers have been responding to these challenges by looking again at their wider pay & benefits package, from four-day weeks to employee assistance programmes and performance-based leave.

With this background, we commissioned independent research of 2,000 employees from YouGov and our own research of 566 employers to uncover how valued employees really feel, what benefits matter to them, and where employers can gain a competitive advantage in their region and/or industry.

Watch the Engaged Employer video for a four-minute briefing on the key findings from the research, which also contains:

  • The views of employment expert Stephen Bevan, Head of HR Research Development at the Institute of Employment Studies
  • Case studies from successful, innovative businesses, including gin distillers Sipsmiths and marketing agency Emperor
  • Breakdowns by gender, industry and sector
